COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM AT ORION HIGH SCHOOL What is Cooperative Education? Cooperative Education is a method of instruction, which moves the classroom into the “real world of work.” It is also an instructional plan which combines learning experiences gained in on-the-job supervised employment and vocationally related in-school instruction. The overall objective of the program is to provide an opportunity for interested students to acquire marketable skills and knowledge in an occupation for which they have an aptitude. It is based on the assumption that the classroom can provide only a basic foundation of theory and instruction with limited application. Cooperative Education makes it possible to offer vocational and specialized training which otherwise would not or could not be taught while students are in school.
